Hyaluronic acid, a lubricating polymer found naturally in the body’s tissue, joints, and cartilage—but frustratingly absent in the creases of mature skin—now comes in both forms, holding a two-pronged promise to plump up aging skin.

What To Take: “The high molecular weight of hyaluronic acid (HA) has made it difficult to absorb when taken orally,” says Aaron Tabor, MD, who specializes in nutrition. He recommends supplements made with Injuv, a patented, smaller form of HA, that has a higher absorption rate. Take up to 400 mg a day for optimal effect.
