Microdermabrasion Severna Park MD

For those still hesitant to either bare or spend all, a number of leading skincare lines have introduced at-home remedies that mirror the effects of spa treatment. While wave pulsing machines are difficult to simulate, a deep “facial” to reduce clogged pores can be accomplished with a long, hot bath to open the pores and soften the skin.

Natural Radiance—Rx: Treatments for that Hard-to-Reach Acne

Provided by:

By Jessie Rosen

The latest trend in facials makes an entirely different set of cheeks smooth and glowing. Glutexfoliation, bum buffing, butne—call it what you will—but spa enthusiasts across the country have become fast fans of this cleansing and buffing process targeting the trouble spot we’d all sooner forget exists.

In today’s burgeoning spa market apparently any skin goes, even that reserved for a very exclusive audience. From besieged business women (and men) to stay-at-home moms looking for a little pampering while their kids are at school—the market for posterior care is growing, alongside people’s comfort levels with it.

“The treatments really became popular last summer,” says Nicole Contos of Smooth Synergy spa in Manhattan. The spa’s “Fanny Facial”—a three-step exfoliation and toning mix was given a “cute and clever name” to ease clients into the idea. “Now more than ever,” Contos says, “we see women looking to pay attention to those forgotten areas.” Much like a foot massage, attention to the backside helps support and release muscles that bear the brunt of our days.

Treatments of the tuchie vary in nature from cleansing and detoxing the skin—just like a regular facial—to microcurrent or microdermabrasion therapy. Typical “facials” usually involve a deep scrub and hot steam, while the more involved processes work to mold the shape and erase cellulite with the help of a machine that pulses wave patterns stimulating the muscles of the buttocks. The result? Tighter and toned buttocks for approximately two to three days, making regular visits an expensive proposition. With prices ranging from $85 to $120 for exfoliation and $120 to $280 for multi-step toning treatments, posterior pampering may be out of reach in more ways than one.

Follow with an exfoliating scrub to slough away dead skin cells. Believe it or not, face exfoliators will do the trick. Try Phyt’s Cosmetics all-organic exfoliator/mask ($28). Its key ingredient is ylang ylang—a flower derivative that increases natural oil secretion, which in turn nourishes dry skin. Other bum-buffing ingredients to look for include coconut oil, which helps remove the outer layer of dead skin cells (the Coral Sea Salt Body Polish from Organic Fiji ($24) is a great option) and sea salts, which will increase circulation and give you that healthy, pink look (Alba Sea Salt Body Scrub ($11) will leave skin fresh and also smooth).
